HEALTH AND SAFETY
Health concerns and COVID-19: You are to be fully vaccinated to attend our retreat.Â

- You don’t need to get any other shots before traveling to Costa Rica unless you are coming directly from a South American country. In that case, you will need to have had a yellow fever vaccination.Â
- Costa Rica has mosquitos that like to come out at dusk, so it’s important to bring your bug repellent with you.
- Safety concerns: Costa Rica is a very safe place. Just like anywhere else there can be cases of petty crimes, especially thefts of backpacks left in cars, or valuables left unguarded on the beach. Generally, Costa Rica is the safest country in Central America.

The resort’s part of Costa Rica has almost no venomous snakes. There are scorpions, but they are not dangerous. When you’re at Anamaya you can relax and enjoy your trip!

HOW FAR IS THE TOWN AND BEACH?
THE BEACH
The closest beach is in Montezuma, which is a 5-minute drive or 20-minute walk. You can also walk to Playa Las Manchas, which is a very beautiful spot. That’s about 7 minutes by car or 30 minutes on foot. Playa los cedros, the famous Montezuma/Cabuya surf spot, is 9 minutes by car. The beaches of Santa Teresa / Malpais are approximately 45 minutes by car.
THE TOWN
Anamaya is located on a cliff edge above the small beach town of Montezuma. It’s only a 5-minute drive to town and the beaches. You can walk down in about 20 minutes but walking back up the hill can be a great workout. You can also take a taxi back for a minimum of $6 (or $2 per person for groups over four).
There are two grocery stores in Montezuma, and several clothing & gift shops.
There is NO bank machine in Montezuma so bring your cards or cash.
WHAT IS THE WEATHER LIKE?
January is a great time to visit Costa Rica. Because it’s the dry season, you’ll enjoy sunny days and little rain throughout much of the country.
DO YOU OFFER ROOM AND LAUNDRY SERVICE?
No, the resort does not offer room service and in fact, they discourage the guests from eating anything in the rooms. It attracts the local critters.Â
The resort does offer a laundry service. This is done on-site by the housekeeping team. It’s a 24-hour turnaround and costs $6 for one load. Your laundry is then returned to the reception office.
WHAT ABOUT PHONE, INTERNET AND ELECTRONICS?
The resort has WiFi in all the rooms and public areas. Please keep in mind you are in a remote and mountainous location so the service might not be as fast or reliable as it probably is where you live, but it works for basic tasks.Â
There is NO cable or TVs for personal use at Anamaya.
In case of an emergency and friends or family need to get ahold of you, a phone with a local number (+506) 2642-1289 is available. You can also use this number to place calls anywhere within Costa Rica. We also have a Vonage phone you can use to call the U.S. and Canada for free.
There are NO phones in the rooms. Many of the guests use their own phones or laptop for Skype / FaceTime / Messenger or Zoom calls.
Electrical outlets?
Yes, they are! We have three-prong 110-volt outlets all over the resort. If you need to bring a power converter or adapter the resort recommends bringing one as they do not have them there and they are hard to find.
